John was born and raised in Kansas City. He grew up Brookside attending both St. Peter’s School and parish. He graduated Pembroke Hill High School and continued on to receive his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame. After college, he attended the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law where he received his juris doctorate. He followed in his father’s footsteps and practiced as an attorney at Baty Otto Coronado, PC alongside his father and sister. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing sports and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, cooking and traveling. He loved reading about history and won every trivia contest he entered. He enjoyed spending most of his weekends outdoors and was happy to help his parents take care of their farm. He was a family man and adored by his many nieces and nephews. He was passionate about his community, animals, and loved ones. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was taken too soon. He passed at only 31 years old of an undiagnosed health condition. He will be missed by the many that he left a lasting impact on. He is survived by his parents Ellen and Lee Baty, his sister Laura Kaufman and her husband Christian Kaufman, his sister Kathryn Byrd and her husband James Byrd, his sister Annie Baty White and her husband Ethan White as well as his nieces and nephews Roland, Maggie, Sera, Jack, Matthew and Michael.
